How to get these programs on your
TI-86

Step 1: Download the TI-Graph Link
software:
Click here to
go to the Texas Instruments website for the TI-86 Graph Link
software. Find the version that is right for your computer and
download it.
Step 2: Purchase the TI-Graph Link cable and an
adapter:
You must now purchase the cable to connect the TI-86 to your
computer. If you would like to order over the Internet from Texas
Instruments please click here.
Order item number 205 (TI-Graph Link Cable Only Package, $30.00).
You must also purchase a converter that is compatible with your
computer. Purchase ONE of the following depending on what type of
computer you have:
- If you have a Macintosh computer order item number 206
(Macintosh Adapter, $6.00)
- If you have an IBM-compatible computer order item number 207
(PC Adapter, $4.50)
Step 3: Connect to your
computer:
If you have a Macintosh computer do the following:
- Plug the wide part of the Macintosh adapter into the TI-Graph
Link cable.
- Plug the other end of the Macintosh adapter into the modem
port on your computer by doing the following:
1. Shut down your computer and turn it off.
2: Unplug your modem from the modem port (the port with
the picture of a telephone).
3: Plug the Macintosh adapter into the modem
port.
4: Turn your computer on.
Note: If you have an internal modem then you will not
need to disconnect it from the modem port.
- Finally, plug the narrow end of your TI-Graph Link into your
TI-86 calculator.
If you have an IBM-compatible computer do the following (I don't
have an IBM-compatible so I am not exactly sure how to set it
up):
- Plug the wide part of the PC adapter into the TI-Graph Link
cable.
- Plug the other end of the PC adapter into the 9-pin port on
your computer by doing the following:
1. Shut down your computer and turn it off.
2: Unplug any device from the port.
3: Plug the PC adapter into the 9-pin port.
4: Turn your computer on.
- Finally, plug the narrow end of your TI-Graph Link into your
TI-86 calculator.
Step 4: Transferring files:
Turn on your calculator and launch the TI-Graph Link software
package that you downloaded in Step 1.
If you have a Macintosh do the following:
- To transfer files to the TI-86 just drag a file from the
Finder onto the TI-86 window
- To transfer files to your computer just drag a file from the
TI-86 window to the Finder
If you have an IBM-compatible do the following:
- Refer to the instructions that are included with your TI-Graph
